 The RCMP Victim Services Program objectives are designed to lessen the impact of crime and trauma on victims and their families. We are here to assist in their recovery by providing emotional and practical support, to increase victim safety as well as reduce the risk of further victimization, to increase victims’ level of participation in the criminal justice system, and to increase the effectiveness of victims acting as witnesses in court proceedings.

What can Victim Services offer?

Confidential and free services are offered to any person/persons affected by crime or trauma with or without a referral from the RCMP.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Support and guidance following a sudden death and/or critical incident.

  • Information on the Criminal Justice System               

  • Updates on RCMP files and court appearances

  • Safety Planning

  • Liaison with RCMP and criminal justice personnel 

  • Crisis counselling and emotional and practical support 

  • Referrals to appropriate services

  • Court orientation, support and accompaniment

  • Assistance with Victim Impact Statements and Crime Victim Assistance Program
